Improved mobile coverage for the Waotu area is here. The new tower is serving coverage for all three mobile providers (2degrees, Spark and Vodafone).

The signal is strongest halfway up Waotu Road (where the tower is located) and we've also driven around the area the last couple of days and can confirm a lot of black spots especially on Old Taupo Road and Huihuitaha Road have disappeared. Your results may vary depending on the mobile provider you're with.

So what next?

Update your phone so you can take advantage of the new coverage to make phone calls

The new tower is 4G-only, loaded with a new technology called VoLTE. Your phone will need to have VoLTE enabled before you can make phone calls using the new coverage and you can check out our guide on how to do this here.

Get faster rural broadband at home and on farm

It's worth checking what your current broadband speeds are, you can do this at www.speedtest.net

If you feel that your old provider has been over promising and underdelivering, we'd love to pop out and show you how much faster Full Flavour's 4G Rural Broadband is. Just fill in the form on our Rural 4G page. Ask about the special offer for the Waotu area, we just can't advertise it here!

Aannndddd if you've got line-of-sight to the new tower (or somewhere else on your property does), you're probably eligible for our new Rural Wireless plans which offer up to 30Mbps download and unlimited data.
