At Full Flavour, we're passionate about bridging the digital divide and bringing better internet connectivity to rural Rotorua. We're excited to share the recent milestone of the 400th Rural Connectivity Group (RCG) tower, which has brought improved mobile coverage to thousands of households, businesses, and tourist locations across the country. As a proud partner in this initiative, we want to highlight the significance of this achievement and the ongoing efforts to enhance rural broadband in Rotorua.
The Rural Connectivity Group and Its Impact:
The RCG is a joint venture between Spark, One NZ, and 2degrees, established to build the Rural Broadband Initiative 2 (RBI2) extension. The RCG has constructed 427 towers, including 400 in the main program and others in the stretch and expansion programs. This groundbreaking project has had a significant positive impact on rural communities, connecting 34,000 households, over 1,000 kms of state highways, and more than 100 tourist locations throughout New Zealand.
The 400th RCG Tower and Full Flavour's Involvement:
The 400th RCG tower, located at Lake Tarawera, serves as an excellent example of collaboration between landowners, local businesses, and the RCG. Full Flavour, as the local Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP), provided backhaul for the site - connecting the tower back to the nationwide mobile network. We're proud to be part of this essential infrastructure project and to play a role in enhancing internet access for rural communities.
In addition to providing connectivity for the mobile coverage aspect, Full Flavour has installed it's rural wireless equipment on the tower and our unlimited Rural Wireless broadband for homes and businesses is now available.
Stay tuned for more updates on our progress and the continued expansion of rural connectivity in the country.
